SpaceYachting is rooted in imagination, innovation and heritage.
At an early age, Brian became fascinated with the iconic design of Airstreams when he first saw the NASA Mobile Quarantine Facility, which was used to isolate the astronauts returning from Apollo lunar missions. He grew up in Huntsville, Alabama, “The Rocket City,” and was surrounded by rocket scientists, space technology and the pursuit of exploration.
In 1962 John F. Kennedy boldly declared, “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard."
In January 2015 we purchased a neglected 1970 Airstream Trade Wind. We choose to rebuild our Airstream and learn not because it is easy, but because it is a challenge. The magnitude of our Airstream project is more than we imagined, but is an endeavor we are not willing to abort. With determination the SpaceYachting Mobile Living Facility is being realized.
Our future space will be in two different states. With a steadfast spirit, our dream of mobile living is materializing. Currently, we live part time in Alabama near Brian's family and will soon live part time in the mountains of Colorado near April's family. Once completed, our Airstream will be the vessel that allows us to work remotely, live seasonally near our respective families and pursue adventures.
