Bent custom outriggers for our 1970 Airstream Trade Wind frame

Bend to the will of the gods and they will bless you immeasurably. Or is it bend to the will of God and He will bless you immeasurably?

Bend a piece a metal, and I guess you will be blessed. In our case, manually bend metal outriggers, weld them to steel beams and weld those prepared beams into a single frame. Only after all that bending and intense heat will we be blessed with a custom frame for our 1970 Airstream Trade Wind.

In the previous blog post entitled “Help,” we gave props to a local friend who custom cut outriggers for our Labor of Love. Being as naive as I am, I thought the freshly cut outriggers were spectacularly ready for the frame building process. Nope, some bending had to be done. Brian had to bend 20+ custom cut outriggers using a hydraulic press brake.

I swear that life is always bending and shaping something, whether it be a tree, a piece of metal or our hearts. We as mortal human beings are never quite ready…we must be molded and shaped before we can become a part of that bigger something.

So, let the bending commence; and hence, reap the benefit of the pressure.
